La Cocina’s Street Food Festival Is Back, And Here’s The Lineup

Returning after a year off

The San Francisco Street Food Festival is back after a year off, returning on Sunday, October 15. The hiatus was well-deserved, as attendance had swollen to 80,000, causing difficulty for vendors. This year will be a back-to-the-roots affair in terms of size and scope, and the lineup below has just been announced.

The Street Food Festival is a showcase for the food entrepreneurs of La Cocina, a 2005-founded nonprofit cultivating food entrepreneurs, primarily women of color and women from immigrant communities. La Cocina and Street Food Festival alums like Reem's and Nyum Bai in 2015 have gone on to become full-fledged restaurant success stories.

This year, La Cocina executive director Caleb Zigas says the festival is all about celebrating “American Food” — but “a specific vision of American food; One that is inclusive, one that is representative of people from all walks of life and one, of course, that is delicious.”

The location is the Potrero Power Station at 420 23rd Street, and hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. General admission tickets are here for $5, and are also available at the door for $10 — while they last, that is.
