Could Wes Rowe be the late night hero San Franciscans have been waiting for? Starting Friday, night owl diners can find out: He’ll serve his Texas-inspired fare from 10:30 p.m. until 3 a.m. at The Den, the postage-stamp sized bar next door to his Mission Street burger joint WesBurger ‘N’ More.
The late night hours are Friday and Saturday nights only, and the menu involves some deviations from the normal WesBurger menu, which isn’t so normal to begin with. There’s a “Double Smash Burger,” brisket corn dogs, Nashville chicken and tater tot skewers, and smoked brisket tots smothered in queso jalapeños, and goat cheese. To drink, as usual, the den serves Lone Star by the bottle, Lo-Fi aperitif-based cocktails, and cans of Funaguchi, a yeasty, aged sake.
Going forward, should customers bite, Rowe might expand the party into the main restaurant. For now, they’ll all have to pile into the Den.
