An early morning fire at Berkeley’s KC’s Bar-B-Que has caused significant damage to the restaurant, which has been open for almost five decades. The one-alarm blaze was concentrated in the kitchen, Dave Brannigan, the deputy fire chief at the Berkeley Fire Department told Berkeleyside.
The fire broke out sometime after midnight on February 17, at which time Berkeley Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene; it took around half an hour to get it under control. According to Brannigan, the resulting damage is work around $500,000
The restaurant was opened in 1968 by the Davis family, who still operates it today, serving Kansas City-style barbecue chicken, beef, ribs, and hot links on San Pablo Ave. We’ve reached out for more details on when and if the family plans to reopen.
