As of Wednesday, February 8, the spirit of Bay Wolf will live on The Wolf, a French American restaurant opening in the Rockridge space. From the owners of Wood Tavern, The Wolf is intended to be a welcoming neighborhood spot, one that serves locals as a gathering place for fun food and drink.

Owners Rebekah and Rich Wood opened up the kitchen for a buzzier energy, stemming from executive chef Yang Peng. Peng is moving on from leading the kitchen at Wood Tavern, and has created a menu she describes as lighter and more feminine than her food at Wood Tavern. The opening menu debuts with dishes like steak tartare with hollandaise, red onion, capers, and chives; chicory salad with cara cara oranges, avocado, toasted almonds, and citrus vinaigrette; and veal ossobucco with green garlic potato puree, Bloomsdale spinach, and bordelaise. They’re all French classics updated with some Californian seasonal flair. You can see it in full below.

The Wolf opens Wednesday, February 8 for dinner only at 5:30 p.m. Stay tuned for photos of the space.
