Get a sneak peek of Bar Crenn

With Bar Crenn’s highly-anticipated arrival set for April, chef/owner Dominique Crenn has shared a drawing of the inspiration for the design of the more casual wine bar next door to fine dining restaurant Atelier Crenn. Karan Brady is behind the design, which Crenn says will be an extension of her home, with a warm, library feel, chandeliers and lots of details.

Iconic Lion Pub is officially no more

After the owner of Lion Pub on Divisadero, the 48-year-old storied gay bar that in recent years took on a different crowd, passed away in October, the bar closed, but with limited information on its future. Now, Hoodline caught that the building was sold, sans a liquor license, which officially means the death of Lion Pub.

China Live owner sees China Live as his ‘redemption’

China Live is easily the most ambitious recent opening in San Francisco, spanning 30,000 square feet and costing $20 million to build the retail section, tea and pastry cafe, flower mart, full bar, and restaurant it houses. Turns out George Chen, the owner, has had a complicated history with opening and closing restaurants in the city, which is painstakingly detailed by The Chronicle, down to every last dollar.

Two hospitalized after drinking poisonous tea in Chinatown

Two San Franciscans were rushed to the hospital and are in critical condition after drinking an herbal tea from Sun Wing Wo Trading Company (1105 Grant Ave.) in Chinatown. The tea contained aconite, which is a lethal poison that can be consumed after the root has been properly prepared and processed. City officials are removing the tea from the store, and urge anyone who purchased some to discard it immediately, Hoodline reports. If you experience symptoms such as numbness or tingling of the face, mouth or limbs, paralysis, low blood pressure, palpitations, chest pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea after consuming tea from the store, call 911.

Wise Guy cancels Financial District deli

Despite announcing a well-priced Italian deli going into 214 California St., Wise Guys has decided not to pursue the project. The city required some remodels, and the owner chose not to move forward, Hoodline reports.

Bella Trattoria buys Buckshot

Another dive bar joins the graveyard, as neighboring Bella Trattoria has purchased Bucksot (3848 Geary Blvd.) to turn it into an unnamed cafe with wine and beer. Expect an April opening, Hoodline reports.
