James Beard Awards Finalists have been announced, with many Bay Area restaurants and chefs making the cut for the industry accolade. In fact, San Francisco majorly represented the West Coast as a whole in many of the non-regional awards categories, including taking two slots in the Best New Restaurant category alongside NYC— LA did not receive a nomination in this category.
Meanwhile, Corey Lee and Dominique Crenn made it through to the final round for Best Chef West, beating out a seriously talented crowd that included Ravi Kapur (Liholiho Yacht Club), Mourad Lahlou (Mourad, Aziza), Joshua Skenes (Saison), James Syhabout (Hawker Fare, Commis), Anthony Mangieri (Una Pizza Napoletana) and more (see the full list of semifinalists here).
The winners in each category will be announced at the James Beard Awards Gala at the Lyric Opera of Chicago on Monday, May 1.
