Cassava Could Shutter and More A.M. Intel

Four things to know

Help save Cassava from closure

After celebrating five years in business this March, Outer Richmond restaurant Cassava is on the brink of closing. Citing debt payments on loans taken to grow the business, the owners have started a GoFundMe campaign to keep the restaurant open this month and next. Since opening, Cassava has quickly become a neighborhood staple on Balboa Street, one that would be sorely missed. Click here to donate.

McDonald’s Twitter account goes rogue

This morning a surprising tweet from McDonald’s corporate twitter account popped up, only surviving in the twittersphere for about 20 minutes before being deleted. The tweet read “You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President and we would love to have @BarackObama back. Also you have tiny hands.” The company later tweeted that its account “was compromised.” Trump has publicly professed his love for the chain in the past; the White House has not commented on how the President feels about the tweet.

The Yard is open and ready for some baseball

It’s that time of year again, when drinkers look to the outdoors to get their fill. The Yard is now open, as of March 16, every Thursday through Sunday from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. (on non-weekend game days it will open two hours prior to first pitch, and close one hour after first pitch.) Head over for beers from Anchor, burgers from Belcampo, and crepes from Creperie Saint Germain. (Though it’s open now, the Giants Home Opener is against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 10.)

The Warriors have a “cake lady”

Apparently, each and every Warriors player receives an elaborate cake on their birthday, created especially for them by the “cake lady.” Otherwise known as Alison Okabayashi, the cake lady owns a bakery in the Inner Richmond called Pretty Please, and has been in charge of constructing cake masterpieces for Dubs players for years. Her creations are personalized, like an edible foam finger for Steph Curry, or Kevin Durant’s Jersey with Olympic gold medals and crab legs. The players’ favorite flavor? Red velvet.
