Although San Francisco has a bevy of juice bars and other clean-eating establishments that fuel its health conscious denizens, that is not the path Gwyneth Paltrow, actress and lifestyle guru, chose on her recent visit. In fact, she probably reads Eater, because she hit some of the best places in town.
No word on why the actress (and author of the dubiously titled cookbook It’s All Easy) is in the Bay Area, although she appeared to have family, including her daughter Apple, in tow. Paltrow, who once famously told Conan O’Brien that “she'd "rather die than let [her] kid eat Cup-A-Soup," made good on her promise by taking her for a leisurely lunch at Petit Crenn.
She followed it up with an order of jasmine milk tea at Boba Guys, prepared “zero percent sweet, with Straus half and half,” according to co-owner Andrew Chau. Then it was on to Chinatown hotspot Mister Jiu’s, where Paltrow apparently celebrated the restaurant’s one year anniversary of opening. No word on what she ate there, though it was probably not octopus (“too smart”) but maybe squid (octopus’ “dumb cousin”).
We also hear that the svelte actress was seen at Cotogna, the pizza- and pasta-focused restaurant from chef Michael Tusk (Quince).
