Daniel Patterson Will Open a Third Alta CA Just Ten Minutes From The First

That’s two Altas on Market with the Dogpatch expansion due soon

Plot twist: Days before opening the doors to his Dogpatch spinoff, Restaurateur Daniel Patterson has announced plans to open yet another location of Alta CA, this one a mere ten minute walk from the original Alta CA. Three Altas, it seems, are better than one.

The Dogpatch Alta location is inside the Minnesota Street Project at 1275 Minnesota Street, a warehouse converted to artist studios and gallery spaces last year. After that imminent opening, Patterson will turn his attention to 1095 Market Street for Alta number three. That branch will be inside the forthcoming Yotel hotel project in the historic Grant Building. Yotel’s arrival on mid-Market is a bid to create a hip space — notwithstanding the name — for visiting business people on the growing tech corridor. Patterson and co., who already cater to the tastes of the crowds across from the Twitter and Uber offices with the existing Alta CA, will be the hotel’s food and beverage partner.

In another twist, Matt Brimer — who served as chef at Patterson’s “temporarily shuttered” Haven in Oakland — will lead the kitchen at Alta’s second Minnesota Street Project location. That leaves Haven down a chef, with an unclear path forward.
