NoPa’s Barrel Head Brewhouse has plans to open a second brewpub in the Richmond District’s former Pizza Orgasmica & Brewing Company space at 823 Clement Street between 10th and 9th Avenues. Two Barrel Heads are better than one, after all, and the space has the appropriate type 75 license to brew and serve beer on premises along with food and a full bar.
Barrel Head’s current location at 1785 Fulton Street opened in 2014 after a major buildout and serious delays. The Richmond’s Barrel Head could be ready early next year, District 1 Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer hints — but an extensive remodel of the interior is required, and an exact timeline isn’t clear. Eater has contacted Barrel Head for more information, and will keep details updated.
“We’re happy to hear they’re expanding to the Richmond district,” says Supervisor Fewer. “That site has been vacant for too long, and it’s getting a little blighted in front. Neighbors are looking for more vibrancy there.” NoPa’s Barrel Head is indeed vibrant, fueled by about six house beers at any given time and more than 20 others on tap.
