North Oakland will welcome the first East Bay project from the team behind popular SF’s Park Cafe Group, which includes Dolores Park Cafe, Precita Park Cafe, and Duboce Park Cafe. Paradise Park will open in the former Actual Cafe/Victory burger location at the corner of San Pablo and Alcatraz on August 17.

The neighborhood, which was apparently known as Paradise Park before it was rebranded NOBE by real estate agents, has mourned the loss of Actual Cafe since it closed in December, the result of what what owner Sal Bednarz said were a series of missteps, and difficulty in hiring staff in the area. Owners/partners Rachel Herbert and Dana Oppenheim will now fill the void left in an area with few good full-service dining options.
Paradise Park’s menu will be full of “New American” dishes like a fried chicken sandwich on challah bread, a tuna melt, and grass-fed burgers and salads. The cafe will also serve breakfast daily with scrambles, bagels, and French toast. There is a notably good selection of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu as well, from the quinoa burger to the BLT made with coconut bacon and eggless mayo. Check out the full menu below.
As of August 17, Paradise Park Cafe will be open daily from 7 a.m.- 8 p.m. and weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m.
