Joe Biden Went to Ayesha Curry’s BBQ Restaurant and Only Got Ice Cream

Joe Biden’s well-documented love of ice cream doesn’t appear to have faded a bit. The former vice president, who was in San Francisco promoting his new book with a talk at the JCC, indulged in his chosen vice at International Smoke, a new barbecue restaurant from celebrity chef Ayesha Curry and restaurateur Michael Mina.

According to a representative of the restaurant, Biden came in late Tuesday night with a small group. “While his guests were eating dinner, VP Biden appeared to be eating ice cream!” she writes.

That account is corroborated on Instagram, where a diner at a nearby table wrote that “we were having dinner at [International Smoke] and Biden came into the restaurant for dessert. Bought him a coke and he came over to say thanks and take pictures!”

Biden is just the latest celebrity patron to visit International Smoke. The SoMa restaurant is also popular with the Golden State Warriors, for whatever reason.

Former vice president Biden was last seen dining in San Francisco in January 2017, when he swung by The Melt in SoMa for a grilled cheese — and chocolate shake, of course. Another member of the Obama white house, Michelle Obama, also seems to be a fan of San Francisco’s dining scene. On a recent local trip, she ordered Souvla for her flight back from SF to DC.
