Highly Anticipated Filipino Restaurant Will Open in Oakland in November

FOB Kitchen’s adobo and tocino are almost here

Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood will get its first Filipino restaurant when FOB Kitchen opens its doors on Friday, November 16. After enjoying three years as a popular pop-up — including a residency at SF’s Gashead Tavern — Brandi and Janice Dulce’s FOB Kitchen is moving onto brick-and-mortar status at 5179 Telegraph Avenue, the former Juhu Beach Club space.

At the restaurant, chef Janice Dulce will carry over a number of pop-up staples, including adobo and tocino. But there will be one key difference. “Before they were rice plates, now it’s meant to be shared — the whole thing is family style,” says Brandi Dulce, who will run front of the house.

New additions include vegetarian and vegan options, including a tofu mushroom adobo. Cocktails will come from Cali Gold of Beretta. “They’re all inspired by classic cocktails but with tropical island twists,” Brandi Dulce says.

The signature? The Fresh off the Boat, featuring rum, coconut milk, and pandan, with a dehydrated red bean-dusted rim, inspired by halo halo.

When it opens, FOB Kitchen will be open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday and weekend brunch. Stay tuned for more details.

Update 12:50 p.m.: A previous version of this story mistakenly stated Cali Gold was formerly of Beretta. She still works at Beretta.
