One-year-old Oakland restaurant Copper Spoon is unveiling a new space tucked behind its main bar and dining room. Dubbed the Golden State Lounge, it offers a more laid-back environment to enjoy a new bar bites-focused menu and spirit-forward cocktails from co-owner Vita Simone’s (Dogwood, Prizefighter) in Temescal.
Simone and co-owner Carmen Anderson redesigned the back space, formerly a somewhat awkward and drab secondary dining room, into a bohemian lounge with comfy couches, a brick fireplace, funky furnishings, and lots of plants. The more open floor plan will allow Copper Spoon to host more live performances and special events, as well as function as a rentable private dining room.
The new lounge menu features a mix of favorites from the dinner and late-night menu, such as deviled eggs with pickled mustard seeds and togarashi; fried chicken sliders with Korean hot sauce; and salmon hand rolls with wasabi aioli. New additions include chili with beef or tempeh and avocado toast with ricotta salata. See the full menu below.
