New Dim Sum Spot Brings Charcoal Lava Buns to the Mission

Truffled shrimp dumplings, mushu tacos, and more from Pushcart Fare

Contemporary dim sum has come to the Mission with the opening of Pushcart Fare. The restaurant serves a tight menu of dumplings, buns, and snacks, plus conveniently packaged dim sum boxes and a few entrees with rice.

Pushcart Fare took over the former Futo Sushi Burrito space at 3224 22nd Street. It comes from Nikki Ma of Belmont food trucks Hongry Kitchen and WoKitchen; Ivan Ou of WoKitchen; and Thomas Wu of Menlo Park’s Kyosho Sushi and the We Sushi truck.

While some preparations will skew traditional, like the egg tarts and siu mai, others will feel fresh and fun. The har gow are ramped up with black truffle. The salty egg yolk lava buns take on a striking gray color from charcoal. And the popcorn chicken actually comes with caramel corn. Not to mention the mushu chicken tacos, mapo tofu fries, and vegan options. Check out the full menu below.

Pushcart Fare is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
