Fans of Dominique Crenn’s indomitable spirit and talent won’t have to wait much longer to experience it in a new way: Bar Crenn will have its grand opening on March 13.
The new project from Crenn is adjacent to her fine dining flagship Atelier Crenn, but it has a decidedly different vibe. Designed by Karen Brady, the few glimpses from Crenn’s Instagram account indicate a luxe environment filled with glam touches like fur, velvet, Cararra marble, and shelves filled with fancy books. Unlike the more reserved dining room next door, Bar Crenn is a dramatic enivornment with dark walls and hanging chandeliers — Crenn envisions it as an extension of her home.
“This is more than a wine bar, it’s my living room,” Crenn told Eater in January. “It’s elegant and it’s warm and thoughtful. We want people to experience the best hospitality there, too.”
The menu will be an “homage to the classics of French gastronomy,” with classic recipes from French chefs like Alain Ducasse, Guy Savoy, and three-Michelin-starred restaurants like Assiete Champenoise, and Palais de l’Elyse will be represented. Think soup aux truffes from Paul Bocuse, and les pommes moulées Elysée from Guillame Gomez.
A selection of wines from Atelier Crenn wine director Matt Montrose will lean French and European, accompanied by low-ABV cocktails as well.
When it opens, Bar Crenn will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 4:30 p.m.- 11 p.m.
