Burritt Room + Tavern and the Mystic Hotel by Charlie Palmer are no longer affiliated with the restaurateur and hotelier after Palmer and his ownership partners quietly sold their Union Square hotel and restaurant property at 417 Stockton last month. That’s now being run as the Mystic Room + Tavern at the Mystic Hotel with what appears to be the same menu and decor as the Burritt Room + Tavern, which Palmer and co. opened in 2012 after purchasing the hotel.
As of January 17, the Mystic’s owners — Palmer City-Core Hotels, LLC, which was comprised of City-Core Hospitality and the Charlie Palmer Group — sold the property to an LLC going by the address of the hotel, 417 Stockton Street LLC. That’s been identified as the Paligroup, which operates boutique hotels in Santa Monica, Melrose, and West Hollywood.
Why is everything but the name pretty much the same at 417 Stockton? Probably because the new LLC bought everything but that, according to a representative, acquiring ”all assets of the hotel, restaurant, and bar with the exception of the protected marks ‘Charlie Palmer,’ ‘Burritt Room + Tavern,’ and ‘Berlinetta Lounge.’
Departing owners Andrew Garay, Rick Kaufman, and Charlie Palmer issued the following statement on the sale:
Mystic Hotel and Burritt Room + Tavern are incredible hospitality assets. We have enjoyed every moment of operating both the hotel and restaurant, creating those signature brands, and sharing our sense of hospitality with our beloved guests, while simultaneously helping to revitalize that corner of Sutter and Stockton Streets with the city of San Francisco. We wish the new ownership and employees all the best in their new endeavors.
Eater SF has reached out to the Paligroup for details and will update accordingly. For the moment, Palmer fans are welcome to patronize his new Napa Steakhouse, the fifth Charlie Palmer Steak, which opened on the first floor of the Archer Hotel in November.
