Restaurant and Venue Doc’s Lab and Doc Ricketts Closed to the Public

The building they occupy is for sale, a co-owner says

Doc’s Lab and Doc Ricketts, a literally underground music and comedy venue and its upstairs restaurant neighbor, has closed — a move noted by several patrons of 124 Columbus Avenue. The issue: “Our building is for sale and we are in a holding pattern for the short term,” co-owner Chris Burnett tells Eater SF. “Currently [we’re] booking events only.”

The historic North Beach venue, previously home to to the comedy club the Purple Onion, opened in 2014. Eater awaits further detail from Burnett, who does say that there’s a silver lining. “The good news is our other spot Darwin Cafe is expanding.” A new beer garden is in the works at that SoMa space.
