Comedy Central’s SF Festival Will Drop Fried Chicken and Cheeseboys in June

The Clusterfest food lineup is out, and it’s small but mighty

Clusterfest, comedy’s answer to music festivals like Outside Lands, is gearing up for a second year in Civic Center, and it’s just released a very serious, no-joke lineup of food options.

On top of the event’s 70 comedians and musicians — headliners are The Lonely Island, TrevorNoah, Jon Stewart, and Amy Schumer — the festival is bringing back replicas of Paddy’s Pub from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and a county fair inspired by South Park, with food that’s a serious cut above whatever it is Chef slops onto trays at South Park Elementary.

Last year’s food showing was a serious trip, with cooking demos including a chili cook-off between Sarah and Evan Rich (Rich Table) and Matt Accarrino (SPQR), with Top Chef Melissa King and brooke Williamson breaking down a pig in some kind of tribute to South Park’s ManBearPig episode.

But this year, it looks like Clusterfest has cut back on those showcases — with the exception of Paddy’s Pub and South Park — scrapping the Seinfeld diner and “soup nazi” stand of last year. The focus will be on the comedians and musicians onstage, with stars like Tiffany Haddish, David Cross, Maria Bamford, and even music from Third Eye Blind. For a bit of culinary crossover, there’s Action Bronson, the rapper and host of Viceland food show F*ck, That’s Delicious.

The list of food options is not as long as the seemingly endless list of snacks found at massive events like Outside Lands, but it’s a strong group, including Dosa’s hot new East Bay sibling Dosa by Dosa and beloved cheeseboys from Kronnerburger. And naturally, there’s rum ham.
