Comal’s expansion is about to open

The Mexican restaurant in downtown Berkeley is about to open its next door expansion, Comal Next Door at 2024 Shattuck Ave. There’ll be smallish street tacos, burritos, and tortas at lunchtime, plus beer and a margarita machine. It’s a small, 20-seat space, meant for quick, streamlined lunching.

Repertoire is a book for when you can’t eat takeout anymore

Local food writer Jessica Battilana’s book, Repertoire: All the Recipes You Need, is on sale today, featuring an arsenal of recipes for the home cook. Fortunately for readers, it’s informed by her time as a private chef and years of working with chefs like Charles Phan and Chad Robertson on their recipes and cookbooks. Stop by Omnivore Books for a free launch party with snacks and cocktails from 6:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m., or attend one of Battilana’s other upcoming events at Zuni Cafe and the Progress.
