Chef Traci Des Jardins, whose empire continues to expand throughout San Francisco, has been lacking a key element in her realm: a bar. Now she’ll get it, in a collaboration with Dogpatch event space The Pearl. School Night, a weeknight-only bar, will open at the end of April.
Though it’s billed as a bar, it’s somewhat of a permanent pop-up, as it will operate only Sunday through Wednesday, allowing it to operate as an event space Thursday through Saturday. The Pearl’s three-level space with a rooftop is already a destination for everything from weddings to last year’s Taco Knockdown from the Golden Gate Restaurant Association’s; School Night will take over just part of it, a standalone space with a separate entrance next door — but attached to — The Pearl’s main space at 601 19th Street.
Enrique Sanchez, bar director of Des Jardins’ restaurant Arguello, will head up the cocktails, which will lean heavily on agave spirits (Traci’s favorite), and whiskey. Food will be from Des Jardins, featuring bar snacks with Mexican influence. Details are scarce on what the decor will look like, but it will have its own look and feel, according to representatives of the project. Communal tables, high tops, and stools at the bar will be part of the casual weeknight bar vibe.
For now, stay tuned as details solidify on the project, which will be Des Jardins first in Dogpatch (her nearest outpost is Public House at AT&T Park).
