CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper is “not one to take pictures of food, or rave about meals,” he writes, but he made an exception for the newly opened San Francisco restaurant Che Fico. The Divisadero business opened just last week, but Cooper was all over it, taking a break from his dog pics, selfies, and ’grams of buddy Andy Cohen to celebrate Che Fico’s pineapple, red onion, and fermented chili pizza. Good journalist that he is, Cooper adds a disclosure: His friend, actor Jonathan Tucker, is apparently an owner of the restaurant, which is run by chefs David Nayfeld, Angela Pinkerton, and partner Matt Brewer.

Whole Foods 365 Market moves closer on Polk

A long-planned Whole Foods Market of the chain’s more affordable 365 variety looks ready for Planning Commission approval at 1600 Jackson Street in the former Lombardi Sports space. Plans call for the grocery store to occupy the first floor of the structure, with offices and dining space above.

Joint Venture Kitchen hosts Jamaican pop-up

Chef Christopher Russell is bringing a five-course feast of Jamaican cuisine to new SoMa food incubator space Joint Venture Kitchen on Saturday, April 7, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The menu and tickets ($40) are online, and items include jerk pork meatballs and grilled pineapple with ice cream for dessert.

Dirty Habit lures patio drinkers with happy hour specials

Hotel Zelos bar and enviable patio Dirty Habit has a new happy hour to know about on weekdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Bar manager Raul Ayala is mixing $10 cocktails such as a bijou with gin, green chartreuse, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters, while food specials during this so-called “dirty hour” include $7 tater tots covered in beer fondue cheese and $10 for wings.

Le Colonial’s 721Lounge

Vietnamese-French mainstay Le Colonial now has a dedicated entrance at 721 Sutter Street to its rebranded lounge space, 721Lounge. Chef Tuan Phan, a 17-year veteran of the restaurant and a native of Ho Chi Min City, has a new menu of bar food to match, and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. daily, expect happy hour specials including half off bar bites and $10 cocktails.
