After a brief hiatus, the Mina Test Kitchen is back with a familiar pop-up concept: Diane’s Bloody Mary Bar & Brunch will launch June 14, serving tomato-based cocktails and breakfast dishes Thursday through Sunday for the next few months.
When plans for a pause on operations at the rotating pop-up restaurant were announced last December, Mina told Eater that his wife Diane’s popular bloody mary bar could make a comeback while he and his team of chefs worked out the next few temporary restaurant projects (and many others, including a revamped Middle Eastern menu at his flagship restaurant). Now, Diane is back with a branded vengeance, selling gardening tools, apparel, and bottles of her Williams-Sonoma mixers alongside brunch.
Brunch will include a selection of toasts — including avocado and smoked salmon — and large plates like pancakes and a brunch burger. Naturally, bloody marys will star on the menu with versions of the cocktail that Diane has been serving for years to friends at tailgates before they hit the mainstream (there’s also an official Bloody Mary Bar at the opulent Mina Tailgate at Levi’s Stadium during the NFL season). Slurp down a classic with vodka, or the dirty Diane, with Del Maguey mezcal. Check out the full menu below.
Several of Mina’s past test kitchen concepts have resulted in standalone restaurants, including International Smoke with Ayesha Curry, Cal Mare in Los Angeles, and an upcoming restaurant with Hugo Ortega based off of his Mi Almita pop-up. Others, like Nana Lu’s (a spinoff of the Little Italy concept) have opened in smaller venues, as part of Mina’s Honolulu food hall, The Street.
Starting June 14, Diane’s Bloody Mary Bar & Brunch will be open a Thursday through Sunday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Happy hour goes Thursday through Sunday from 4 p.m. -6 p.m.
