Pita, hummus, and falafel hotspot Oren’s Hummus is expanding from the Peninsula to San Francisco, where it will open in SoMa at 71 Third Street in mid-July. There, Oren’s will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with options for takeout or table-service in a dining room for 100 and on patio for 28 more. Options for delivery will include Caviar and Doordash.
Tel Aviv native Oren Dobronsky and his wife Nancy Dobronsky opened the first Oren’s shop on University Avenue in Palo Alto in 2011. The brand expanded to Mountain View and Cupertino locations with the help of chef David Cohen and Mistie Cohen, whose consultancy, EyeSpy, serves clients including Samovar and the Grove.
The biggest addition to Oren’s menu in San Francisco will be the businesses’ morning options: Those will include Israeli Breakfast (two eggs any style, Israeli salad, goat cheese, and roasted peppers), Challah french toast, and rotating baked goods. Entrees will include classic shakshuka and green shakshukah (made with spinach and kale cream sauce instead of tomatoes) and popular bowls like a hummus beets bowl with marinated beets, feta cheese, chopped walnuts, cilantro, orange zest, and a balsamic reduction.
Tecta Associates designed the new SF Oren’s space, as they did the one in Cupertino. Expect colorful tiles and a large chandelier over a big community table. When it opens in July, Oren’s will be open in SoMa seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Stay tuned for more as that arrival approaches.
