NorCal’s First Hello Kitty Mini-Cafe to Drop Excessive Amounts of Cute on San Jose

It opens June 22 with cute treats and tons of merch

After years of zipping in and out of town in an adorable pink truck, Hello Kitty is now putting down semi-permanent roots in San Jose, with the debut of the Hello Kitty Mini Cafe. It will open its doors to avid/rabid fans in Santana Row, the premier Disneyworld-esque shopping center in San Jose, this Friday, June 22.

Like the truck, there will be Hello Kitty-themed sweets and treats, including pies, tarts, cookies, pastries, and cakes adorned with the sugary sweet character’s face. A selection of teas, lemonades, smoothies, and espresso drinks will also be available. Most importantly, a huge retail presence with t-shirts, mugs, water bottles, and more will be on display, giving fans the chance to both wear, and ingest, their favorite Sanrio character.

This will be the first brick-and-mortar location of such a cafe, though another obscenely adorable “pop-up container” already exists in San Diego and another in Rancho Cucamonga; like those this one won’t stick around forever. No timeline is set.

Grand opening activities will start June 22 and run through June 24, with giveaways of free drinks and gifts with purchase for the first 50 customers. If the truck’s popularity is any indication, there will be lines of children and Instagrammers alike, so plan accordingly.
