The Richmond District’s bar scene is about to get a big boost from the team that already did the neighborhood a solid with their Italian eatery Fiorella. Violet’s, a new bar at 2301 Clement, is scheduled to arrive soon — just down the street from Fiorella (2339 Clement) in the former Ernesto’s pizza space.
Boris Nemchenok (who grew up in the Avenues and is also behind Uva Enoteca in the Lower Haight) and partner Brandon Gillis (who came to SF by way of Brooklyn’s Franny’s) opened Fiorella in 2016. In a short time, they’ve made a serious impact on the neighborhood and beyond with a menu of well-executed pizza, pasta, and brunch with great wines selected by Nemchenok.
Violet’s will feature a dozen or so more of Nemchenok’s wine picks, but the emphasis will be on cocktails. A raw bar featuring seafood platters and a full kitchen will keep drinkers well fed. And while the space has been under wraps, if it’s anything like Fiorella — which turns heads with its charming wallpaper, light fixtures, and back patio — Violet’s will be something to look at as well.
Violet’s arrives hot on the heels of another exciting neighborhood opening: Pearl, a restaurant, bar, and all-day cafe from the Pizzetta 211 Team. All in all, the Richmond seems to be doing pretty well for itself these days.
