Traci Des Jardins Raises the Bar in Dogpatch with Rooftop Drinking and Dining

School Night is getting more scenic

School Night on the roof

Traci Des Jardins’ Dogpatch bar School Night has been a popular spot in the Pearl event space since it opened in April, with bar manager Enrique Sanchez (Arguello) mixing drinks on literal school nights to go with Des Jardins’ food menu. Now they’re taking it to the roof: Starting August 20th, School Night adds rooftop access for visitors to the bar, with a limited menu of cocktails and food available on top of the Pearl space, with views onto the Bay. It’s one of the ways that School Night is taking advantage of the event space when it’s typically not in use. Also of note: School Night is tweaking its hours: Starting September 10th, it’s will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (swapping out Sunday nights and adding Thursday nights).

Eat Drink SF approaches

The 10th Annual Eat Drink SF is around the corner: A food festival of pretty serious proportions to be held by the Golden Gate Restaurant Association from August 24 to August 26. The lineup of chefs, bars, wineries, and spirits providers is being updated on a rolling basis, and newcomers upping the VIP game include Sorrel and Eight Tables. The festivities are divided into grand tastings held Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday afternoon. Tickets are available now.

Ladies first?

“In scrapping certain customs,” Grace Perrry writes of a new re-thinking of a patriarchal, “ladies first” service culture, “ restaurant staffs — among many nationwide — are both reacting to and redefining what having ‘good manners’ means for a new generation.” Read more on Eater here.
