Che Fico team can’t stop, won’t stop opening restaurants
Theorita, the highly anticipated follow-up to critical darling Che Fico, opens today at 834 Divisadero Street. Grab some pie for breakfast, lunch or dinner, as well as other diner and bakery classics. (And be sure to ogle these photos first.)
Korean BBQ to-go
KKOCHI Grilled Korean BBQ quietly opened in Lower Nob Hill last week, dishing out Korean basics (kalbi, bulgogi, grilled tofu) all boxed up with sides (salad, japchae, kimchi, something called a “rice waffle”) for quick takeout. Find it at 704 Post Street.
Chipotle-style Vietnamese
Build-your-own pho, garlic noodles, rice bowls, salad and banh mi are on the menu at Mr. East Kitchen, a new fast-casual Vietnamese spot in SoMa at 276 Fifth Street. In the mornings, Mr. East operates more like a standard American cafe with an espresso bar and avocado toast in a minimalist space full of pale wood. And, yes, there’s boba.
Speakeasy is 21 and thriving
After some close calls, the brewery is open, brewing, and celebrating 21 years in business (plus one year under new ownership). They’re throwing a big party on Saturday, August 25 from 1 p.m.- 6 p.m. with new beer releases, music, food from friends like Long Bridge Pizza, and more. Tickets are available here.
