The Divisadero home of red-hot upstairs restaurant Che Fico will soon be buzzing from morning to night thanks to a new downstairs “dinette” from the same team, Theorita. The all-day, diner-inspired operation (think lots of pie at the counter) is opening the week of August 20th, with breakfast and lunch to start and dinner to follow.
Theorita is a showcase for the talents of Che Fico pastry chef Angela Pinkerton, whose desserts there, like wood-fired crostatas, cannoli, and olive oil cake, have helped establish Che Fico as one of SF’s buzziest new restaurants in years. Pinkerton has that effect: She was the first executive pastry chef at New York’s Eleven Madison Park, where she connected with now Che Fico chef David Nayfeld. Theorita is a partnership between them and Che Fico partner Matt Brewer.
“Angela’s talent was too great to be only utilized on a five item menu,” Nayfeld told Eater last year. Now, on top of Cal-Italian Che Fico, the pastry chef will have a platform to channel her Northern Ohio upbringing. Expect pies, pastries, salads, and more on a menu that’s a collaboration between Pinkerton and Nayfeld. And definitely be on the look out for a burger a la their Mission pop-up of 2016.
Stay tuned for more as we count down to Theorita in T-minus two weeks.
