The largest vegan chain in the country is set to debut a Berkeley location this week, bringing plant-based burgers, sandwiches, salads, and bowls to a city already proven to love its vegetables.
Veggie Grill has 30 locations across California, Oregon, Washington, and Illinois, with other Bay Area restaurants in San Jose, Mountain View, and Walnut Creek. It’s known for changing its menu seasonally and featuring plant-based products by top brands like Beyond Meat and Just Egg. The downtown Berkeley spot, located at 48 Shattuck Square, opens Friday, September 14.
The sleek, minimalist space features bright pops of orange and green — it’s the most contemporary and least cafeteria-feeling of Veggie Grill’s Bay Area locations. The Berkeley restaurant offers dine-in, takeout, online ordering, and delivery for its wide-ranging and eclectic menu, which includes a few classic American desserts, a fleet of lemonades and iced teas, and flavors that borrow from Mexico, the Southwest, India, and China.
Veggie Grill will be open Monday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
