Cocktails, scooped
Humphry Slocombe is choosing booze in 2019, with a series of liquor-infused ice creams on tap throughout the year. Each flavor will be inspired by a classic cocktail, starting off with two specials featuring The Glenlivet’s scotch. The first is a scoop of straight-up scotch ice cream. The second is the hot toddy sundae, starring that scotch ice cream with clove caramel and candied lemon. Find them at the Mission, Ferry Building, or Oakland posts through the rest of January.
A la carte Michelin fare
Folks interested in trying Jackson Square’s Michelin-starred Nico no longer have to commit to a prix-fixe menu. The French restaurant has reemerged from its winter break with a new a la carte menu, available both in the dining room and the bar. (The original prix-fixe menu is still on offer, too.) Expect the a la carte dishes to frequently change, but options might include duck breast with mushrooms and coffee or madeleines with truffles and caramelized onions.
SF bartender wins Speed Rack
Bartending competition Speed Rack California Season 8 took place over the weekend, and a San Franciscan came out on top: Jeanie Grant of Pagan Idol. Grant now holds the honor of Miss Speed Rack California, and she’ll compete in the Speed Rack National finals in May.
