Midnite Bagel night at Tartine
Every Friday is now bagel night at Tartine’s original 18th and Guerrero outpost, where Midnite Bagel, a pop-up from Tartine’s lead bread baker, Nick Beitcher, started out this spring. It opens at 6 p.m., and Beitcher’s naturally leavened bagels can be pre-ordered to-go, too. Next up, Midnite Bagel could one day have a home of its own: The team is looking for a brick-and-mortar Midnite Bagel Space, Beitcher says.
Restaurants slump along with the Giants
As the SF Giants finish up another losing season, restaurants and bars in the vicinity of Oracle Park tell the Chronicle that they’re struggling, with several, like Pete’s Tavern and Pedro’s on King Street, closing altogether. Another, pizzeria Amici’s, has moved to a commercial kitchen and gone online-only, operating as “virtual restaurant.”
Dim Sum Club dissolved
A popular if unexpected SF dim sum spot, Dim Sum Club, closed quietly at 2550 Van Ness Avenue in the past few months: The business was located on the ground floor of Russian Hill Hotel da Vinci Villa, which has also closed indefinitely.
