Hook Fish reels in new spot with Proof Lab

Outer Sunset seafood restaurant and market Hook Fish Co. has landed a new space in concert with Proof Lab, a Mill Valley surf shop. Hook Fish Co. has been known for its fresh fish tacos and burritos on the edge of Ocean Beach since 2017. The new Hook Fish location, at 244 Shoreline Highway, will encompass a trailer and outdoor beer garden next to Proof Lab, which already hosts a cafe from Equator Coffee & Teas and a small skatepark. Last Day for Union Square fixture Tad’s Broiled Steaks

At least for now, say goodbye to 65-year-old Union Square steakhouse Tad’s Steaks. They’re closing after today at 120 Powell Street and relocating next month to 38 Ellis around the corner, they write on Facebook, where they’ll have a full bar this time. The switch comes shortly after Tad’s last New York City restaurant location closed completely.

Harry Denton’s Starlight Room replacement opens

The bar atop the Sir Francis Drake hotel, which closed for renovations in September, is now open again as Lizzie’s Starlight Room, a lighter, modernized version of the old classic known for its panoramic city views. It’s fairly unrecognizable, now in light and white shades rather than heavy red velvet, and a new drinks menu completes the transformation.

Seven Stills closes Bayview taproom

SF brewery and distillery Seven Stills is closing its original Bayview taproom as it moves to 100 Hooper Street, where a new flagship facility is opening soon. They’ve moved their still and Type 74 license to the new space, and can no longer serve the public from their original Bayview spot.
