New Food Truck Park From SoMa Streat Food Opens on Market

Urban Picnic on Market Street

A new food truck setup from the team behind SPARK Social SF and SoMa StrEat Food Park is open today at 1231 Market Street (at 8th Street). It’s 6,000 square feet right in front of the Hotel Whitcomb — a partnership with that hotel to activate the area around it. Rotating trucks like Golden Burma SF, Da Poke Man, and Al Pastor Papi are there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

Napa Vintner sentenced in college admissions scandal

A former Napa Valley vineyard owner, Augustin Huneeus Jr., has been sentenced to five months in prison in the college admissions scandal. Huneeus stepped down in March as chief executive of Huneeus Vineyards, a winery founded by his parents, after his name surfaced in the scandal: The winemaker paid to boost his daughter’s test scores and credentials as a water polo player in an effort to have her accepted to USC.

CA vineyards face grape oversupply

“Fueled by a high-yielding crop in 2018 and slowing wine sales, wineries are cutting back on production,” the Chronicle’s Esther Mobley reports, and that leaves vineyards with grapes they can’t sell. The market for California wine is basically flat, so with a glut of grapes, it’s a buyers market — but growers are worried that selling them for low prices will harm them in the long-term.

Teleféric Palo Alto

Barcelona’s Teleféric, whose first US location opened in Walnut Creek in 2016, is about to open in Palo Alto. The first night for pintxos, paellas, sangria, and cocktails is tomorrow, October 8: The location is in Town & Country Village, 855 El Camino Real, Palo Alto.
