Dumpling Kitchen reopens with new owners

Fans of the Outer Sunset’s Dumpling Kitchen were sad to learn that its owners were planning to retire, and close the restaurant in February. But now they can turn those frowns upside down: It’s open once more under new ownership, and with a fresh remodel (now there is a window to let diners view the dumpling making process). The menu closely resembles the original, with XLB, pan-fried dumplings, scallion pancakes, and all the rest. And, possibly most importantly, the restaurant now takes credit cards, so feel free to run up that tab.

Bay Area’s Maven’s Creamery struck a deal on Shark Tank

Sisters Gwen and Christine Nguyen appeared on ABC hoping to convince one of the show’s investors that their ice cream macaron business was worthy of investment. They succeeded, snagging a $400,000 investment from Barbara Corcoran (who is taking a 25 percent stake). Corcoran was convinced by the duo’s excellent product and fanbase, as well as their story: the Nguyen’s father is an immigrant from Vietnam who put himself through college and worked two jobs for years to provide for his family. A new Dutch hotel is heading to Union Square

Amsterdam-based CitizenM is moving forward with plans to open a 195-room hotel at 72 Ellis St. It’ll include a public rooftop space, plus 6,100 square feet of ground-floor retail space for food and beverage and retail.

Beyond Meat has filed for an initial public offering

The meat replacement company, whose products are already available in grocery stores, is the first meat replacement company to make the move towards an IPO, though others like Impossible Burger and Just are moving in that direction. According to Tech Crunch, the company is looking to raise $200 million in the stock sale, giving the company a value of more than $1 billion. Read all about it here.
