Tsugaru, one of San Jose’s Japantown institutions, will close at the end of July. Its building was purchased a few years ago, and new owners have plans to renovate the space. Keep an eye out for bartenders wearing this pin
Bartenders are opening up about the harmful nature of working around alcohol; for those who want to stay sober during their shift, it can be a difficult accomplishment. Local bartenders Mark Goodwin, DiDi Saiki, and Nike Melle have launched the Pin Project to help bartenders stay sober in a bar full of booze: When a staff member doesn’t want to drink during their shift, they don one of these pins to symbolize that intent.
