Outside Lands updates
This year there’ll be a full tiki bar called Polynesian Dave’s, a collaboration with SF’s Last Rites team. Don’t confuse it with the Cocktail Magic area, this is a new and different situation with four tropical tiki drinks on offer, including a mai tai, of course. Chef Roy Choi has been added to the lineup at the GastroMagic stage, making two vegan recipes with Anderson .Paak followed by a set from the Free Nationals. Super duper brunch series at Charter Oak
The St. Helena restaurant from chef Christopher Kostow is launching a Sunday Brunch Series with Williams Sonoma to benefit non-profit No Kid Hungry. It kicks off August 18 with chef Sean Brock (formerly of Husk, and poised to open a new project in Nashville, TN), followed by chef Curtis Di Fede (Miminashi) on October 6th, chef Jessica Koslow (SQIRL) on December 1st and Chef Josh Russ Tupper (Russ & Daughters) on February 16th. Seats are $75 each; reservations start at 11 a.m. and are available on Resy.
Flour Craft San Anselmo is getting some upgrades
The popular gluten-free Marin bakery is briefly closing from August 12- August 15 for a small remodel. When it reopens, expect an expanded menu to match the bakery’s Mill Valley cafe, with plant-based breakfast and lunch items, gluten-free baked goods, pastries, and bread. 702 San Anselmo Ave.
Feast on oysters at Oysterfest
Tickets are on sale for a big ol’ celebration of bivalves at Waterbar. It goes down August 25, and benefits an ocean protection organization, the San Francisco Surfrider Foundation. Food and oysters from Waterbar, EPIC Steak, Farallon, Dobbs Ferry, and others will be available plus live music. Get more info here.
