Devil’s Teeth Baking Company, the egg sandwich love shack of the foggy Outer Sunset, officially opened its second location in the Outer Richmond this week. Swiftly taking over the space at Balboa and 37th Ave from the dearly departed Marla Bakery, it thankfully replaces one favorite bakery with another, keeping the west side of the city rich in butter, and selling hot biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and donut muffins, as well as expanding its savory offerings with pizza.
Just like its Outer Sunset location, Devil’s Teeth Outer Richmond is rocking a full pastry case, with cookies, muffins, scones, and more. Of course, its popular egg sandwiches will also be available, and they’re as big as your face and smothered with cheese and housemade hot sauce. True to the previous location, there will also be some simple lunch options, with a soup of the day, a few sandwiches, quiche, and lasagna. The notable addition is pizza, taking advantage of the wood-fired oven first installed in the space by Marla’s. Pizza is only available at the Outer Richmond location on Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Given that the space was already renovated five years ago, it didn’t need much of an update. But for fans of its original location, which is quite cozy, Devil’s Teeth Richmond is much more spacious, at nearly triple the square feet and with room for sit-down tables. The biggest change since the space’s Marla days is a standing bar, a good spot for anyone grabbing a coffee and bun. The back patio, where the Marla owners got married, appears to be closed for the moment, but one hopes that will change in future days.

Devil’s Teeth Baking Company is now open in the Outer Richmond every day of the week from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
