12 Places to Eat Brunch on New Year's Day
Presidio Social Club
Swing by PSC from 10 am-4 pm for options like pork-belly chilaquiles, Asian chicken noodle soup, eggs with lamb merguez, or kale salad with duck confit. Fernet-spiked Irish coffee and cranberry spritzers will help ease the pain.
For a super-chic New Year's Day brunch, Campton Place is offering duck samosas with tomato butter, Dungeness crab naan with a pullet egg, and a black truffle burger with truffled potato chips from 11:30 am-2:45 pm. Every dish comes with a free glass of sparkling wine.
Bluestem is offering brunch from 9 am-3 pm, with four kinds of pancakes (buttermilk, chocolate hazelnut, apple-maple, and Meyer lemon-poppy seed), plus bottomless mimosas and other non-pancake brunch dishes.
Chambers Eat + Drink
From 10:30 am-2:30 pm, Chambers will be on hangover patrol with caviar and smoked salmon-topped eggs, souffle pancakes, burgers, tequila shots with sangrita, and mimosas by the bottle.
Open from 11 am-3 pm, Absinthe is adding some Mexican spice to their NYD brunch menu, with spicy red chile pork stew and a braised short rib torta to complement the usual steak frites and ricotta-stuffed French toast. Throw in a Death in the Afternoon or an aquavit bloody Mary, and you'll be back in business.
Rice Paper Scissors
The ladies of Rice Paper Scissors will be serving up a special Vietnamese brunch at Brick and Mortar Music Hall from 11 am-3 pm, featuring dry-fried chicken wings, breakfast banh mi, and Hanoi-style pho. Vietnamese iced coffee and kumquat ginger beer will be available, as will mimosas and bloodies from B&M's bar.
SoMa StrEat Food Park
The street-food mecca is throwing a NYD brunch blowout from 11 am-5 pm, with $12 bottomless mimosas, egg and lobster sandwiches from Sam's Chowder Mobile, Bacon Bacon breakfast burritos, Me Meli Greek donuts, and a live salsa band.
Arguably the best deal on the list: Elixir is offering a free BBQ brunch from chef Jack Andrews with the purchase of an adult beverage or two. Maker's Mark is sponsoring the shindig, so expect deals on bourbon.
Namu Gaji is open from 10:30 am-4 pm, with soju bloody Marys and mimosas by the pitcher, egg sandwiches with kimchi relish, a fried-oyster Benedict, gamja fries, and other hangover helpers.
Beretta is open from 11 am onward with its usual brunch complement of carbonara pizza, parmesan bread pudding, pancetta-mushroom-fontina omelets, and Pimm's Cups and tequila swizzles for sipping.
Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen
The Wise Sons will be dishing up their usual pastrami and eggs, challah French toast, bialys with smoked salmon, and other Jewish deli favorites from 10 am-3 pm. They won't be open at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, though, so you'll have to hit the Mission location.
The Front Porch
Savor a Southern-fried New Year's brunch with options like chicken and waffles, the "stoner stack" (a biscuit with fried chicken, bacon, cheddar, and country gravy), or the Hangover Helper (mac and cheese topped with chili and an egg). It's all available from 11 am-3 pm, alongside a full bar with options like bacon bloody Marys.
