If L.A. is the place for breakfast burritos, then the Bay Area is the place for breakfast sandwiches. The East Bay has plenty of the hot, crunchy, and melty specimens. In fact, Bay Area dwellers love breakfast sandwiches so much that there are even several restaurants entirely devoted to making them. And what’s not to love? They’re delicious, affordable, fast, and depending what you order on them, they can be nutritious (frisée counts right?). And let's not forget that the humble breakfast sandwich is also a tried-and-true cure for the morning after a late night out.
From fully loaded bagels at Sunrise to the fried chicken waffle at Hideout, here are a few of the contenders for the best breakfast sandwiches in the East Bay. Breakfast never tasted so good.
