| El Techo

San Francisco diners are used to huddling under heat lamps and awnings as the fog rolls in, fantasizing that they're not wearing sweaters and scarves and watching as their dinners get cold. However, during that magical late summer heat wave, the city does have a few choice patios upon which to enjoy cold cocktails and short sleeves.

Check out 15 of the city's best outdoor respites, from sassy downtown drinking enclaves to divey beer bars to grass-covered backyards. Everything goes when the temperature rises above 70 degrees or so, so break out that one pair of shorts own, grab the crew,  head out into the warm(ish) streets for pitchers of cocktails, cold beers, and adventure.
