The Bay Area has seen more and more dessert shops popping up, but nothing quite compares to ice cream made by hand, right in front of your eyes, within minutes. Thai-style rolled ice cream has made its way into the sweet teeth of Instagrammers and dessert lovers alike with it’s swirly good looks and special flavors. The unique presentation of this sweet treat is definitely an attention-grabber.

In an interesting twist, SF has fewer destinations for the coiled up cream than outlying areas like San Jose and Fremont, though it seems like the item’s growing popularity will bring more to the city. And so, here are 11 places you can get your hands on rolled ice cream in the Bay Area.

The newest ice cream shop San Francisco’s Mission District will be serving up tacos and doughnuts filled with rolled ice cream. Flavors include ube, matcha, and salted caramel. If you don’t want to wait, they also have two soft serve flavors on hand.

This Inner Sunset store took over long-time shop JJ Ice Cream earlier this year and has been a hit ever since. Lines are out the door most nights as customers pack in their ice cream with unlimited toppings. Yelpers say the wait can range anywhere from 20-40 minutes.
