17 Places to Eat Brunch on New Year's Day
Because you will probably be hungover tomorrow.
Open from 11 am-3 pm, Absinthe is adding a little Canadian flair to brunch, via poutine. Duck fat fries, fried cheese curds, crispy braised beef, and a poached egg with wild mushroom gravy will complement the usual steak frites and ricotta-stuffed French toast. Throw in a Death in the Afternoon or an aquavit Bloody Mary, and you'll be back in business.
Beretta is open from 11 am onward, with its usual brunch complement of carbonara pizza, parmesan bread pudding, pancetta-mushroom-fontina omelets, and the Pamplemousse cocktail (gin, lemon, grapefruit, basil) to refresh the spirit.
Mocha brioche French toast, burgers, and mimosas are on the menu for New Year's morning at Bluestem. It's also very convenient to one of the few other places you can easily go on New Year's Day: the movies.
For a super-chic New Year's Day brunch, Campton Place is offering duck samosas with tomato butter, Dungeness crab naan with a pullet egg, and a black truffle burger with truffled potato chips from 11:30 am-2:45 pm. Every dish comes with a free glass of sparkling wine.
Starting at 9 am, Causwells is serving up biscuits and gravy, pastrami hash, and of course, the brunch burger, all in the hopes of saving your life.
Chambers Eat + Drink
From 10:30 am-2:30 pm, Chambers will be on hangover patrol. Emerge from the haze with Hangover Hash with short rib pastrami, souffle pancakes, burgers, tequila shots with sangrita, and mimosas by the bottle.
Jook, the restorative rice porridge, is the only item on the menu at Chubby Noodle today (besides drinks, of course). It comes with bacon and an egg on top, to seal the deal. They'll be open from 10am-6pm.

Like your Mom always said, nothing cures a hangover like lots of fresh air. Add some bloody marias and fried eggs with pork, tortillas and beans, and she's probably right. El Techo will open at 11am for your brunching pleasure.

The ladies of Rice Paper Scissors will be serving up a special Vietnamese brunch at Brick and Mortar Music Hall from 11 am-3 pm, featuring dishes like a mapo scramble, crab imperial rolls, and a steak-and-egg banh mi. Vietnamese iced coffee and kumquat ginger beer will be available, as will mimosas and bloodies from B&M's bar.
