It’s been just 15 days since our lives have been transformed by the Pokémon Go app, the new augmented reality mobile game that uses GPS and your smartphone's camera to turn your surroundings into a Pokémon hunting ground. The app officially has more users than Twitter, and people in San Francisco are particularly — and predictably — enamored. One enterprising player has organized a crawl for tonight, Wednesday, July 20 that will bring thousands of players together for one big Pokémon hunt. According to the Facebook event, 8,600 people plan to attend, with an addition 24,000 people “interested” in participating.
This means San Francisco streets are going to be full of Pokémon zombies tonight, and businesses are trying to cash in on all that action. The crawl starts at 6:30 p.m. at both Dolores Park and the Embarcadero, and restaurants and bars are officially offering deals to those taking part. Plus, there’s a bar crawl in the Mission at the end. Even if you’re not playing, you can score some deals at these places tonight.
