20 Places to Eat Foie Gras in San Francisco

Where to score a first bite of foie now that the California ban is repealed.

View as Map

For anyone who's been living under a rock: foie gras is once again legal in the state of California. Chefs around the city have been getting their orders in or breaking into secret supplies in order to bring the good stuff back to their menus as quickly as possible, and diners can expect to see an explosion of foie around the city as everyone gets their post-prohibition ya-yas out. Given the current demand for foie, and the fact that all of it has to be shipped from the East Coast or Canada, many of these dishes will be available in very limited quantities, so be sure to call before heading over to ensure you snag a bite.
