Four Barrel Coffee
The newest Four Barrel outpost is now brewing in Portola, and this bare-bones garage kiosk sports a rustic redwood ceiling, an outdoor parklet and all the espresso goodness of the roaster's Valencia St. location (plus pastries from Neighbor).
Tierra Mia Coffee
SoCal-based coffee chain Tierra Mia made its Bay Area debut last summer with a spot lower Bernal Heights, and now they're caffeinating Oakland, too. Expect house-roasted, single-origin espresso drinks and Latin-inspired drinks like a horchata latte, plus pastries from the East Bay's Starter Bakery.
Sweetmue's focus on infusing traditional French pastries with Asian ingredients like black sesame and green tea gives it special cache, and it's the only cafe in the city to carry Gimme! Coffee, too.
Peet's Coffee & Tea
Peets' fancy new Marina flagship takes its cues from the city's trendier coffee spots with a mix of granite counters, reclaimed wood and a living wall to rival the best of them.
After establishing a much-loved pop-up at Public Bikes in South Park, Saint Frank moved into an airy new Russian Hill home where it now serves up seasonal coffees, pastries from the likes of Marla Bakery and Le Marais, and information on coffee bean origins and producers.
High Cotton Kitchen
Look for Sightglass coffee at High Cotton, a brand-new spot that comes as part of the Red Vic's new incarnation as Second Act Marketplace. Do it right by pairing your cup of joe with Beauty's Bagels and Meetinghouse biscuits in the morning, and a New Orleans and New Mexico menu at lunch.
Artis Coffee Roasters
Artís Coffee is a combination retail outlet and coffee shop that serves beans roasted live and on-demand, plus roasters, grinders, and brewing accessories for the armchair coffee enthusiast.
The deceptively tiny Linea Caffe pairs coffee impresario Andrew Barnett and Mission food legend Anthony Myint in a perfect storm of espresso drinks, fancy waffles, and high-end salads.
Giulietta Carrelli of Trouble Coffee opened this microscopic Hunters Point location far from her Outer Sunset original, but it's got the same offerings of cinnamon toast, coconuts and Intelligentsia coffee that made her a viral Web star last month.
Libby Jane Cafe
Skip the line at Brenda's and go straight to Libby Jane for sweet potato coffee cake, cornmeal muffins, banana bread, and the much-loved cream biscuits, and wash it all down with a choice of New Orleans-style chicory coffee or Ritual coffee if you so desire.
Espressamente Illy Café
Espressamente Illy is the second SF cafe for the Italian coffee conglomerate, and features a Monoarabica pour-over bar with coffee brewed cup-by-cup using Chemex and Hario systems, plus signature latte flavors like lavender-mint and jasmine-vanilla.
Marla Bakery Kitchen Communal
A full Outer Richmond bakery is still in the works, but the Marla Bakery duo of Amy Brown (Nopa) and Joe Wolf (Wise Sons) couldn't wait: they've got a new pop-up window at their commercial kitchen complete with sweet and savory scones, pain au chocolat, bagels and more, plus Wrecking Ball coffee to wash it down.
Little Bee Bakery
Little Bee is a new Bernal bakery that doesn't just offer a mouthwatering selection of treats like chocolate sea salt, rosemary cornmeal and apple tartlets: there's also enough Four Barrel coffee to go around.
Cafe Terminus is Dennis Leary's new spot, a sleek all-day café by day and cocktail den by night. Expect a rotating selection of house-baked pastries like muffins and coffee cake in the morning, plus java made with house-roasted beans.
