Where to Celebrate NYE in the North Bay

Napa and Sonoma have all the wines

View as Map

While Albert Einstein once acknowledged that "planning is everything," it's unclear whether he was referring to New Year's Eve dinner or larger questions of the universe. Assume it was the year's last meal and take his good advice. Because, as Al could tell you, making a reservation now and deciding what you're willing to spend, how far you're willing to travel, and whether or not you'll be staying over today will make for a happier evening on the 31st. Don't let the year's biggest night of amateur drinking get you down.

The few ideas rounded up here are in no way representative of the swathe of New Year's Eve opportunities abounding in the North Bay, but are nonetheless some fine picks to choose among. The restaurant closest to your house probably has something special in store that night, as does your favorite place just across town. Give them a call and reserve a table or consider staying home with a few fresh crabs, a nice cold bottle, and your favorite folks. And for those staying in (or traveling to) San Francisco, here's a list of some quality happenings in the city and the East Bay. However you do it, take this advice: Plan it.
