In addition to the "smothered fries" with short-rib gravy, Umami Burger will make any burger on their menu "poutine-style," i.e. bunless atop fries with the gravy.

The current iteration of Tyler Florence's take on poutine features crisp spring potatoes, oxtail gravy, mozzarella curds, and English peas. At other times of the year, truffles have been involved.

Salt House's poutine features thickly cut Kennebec fries topped with short-rib gravy, mornay sauce, and mozzarella cheese curds. (They have a lunchtime burger, too, with a rarely-seen accompaniment: curly fries.)

The ballpark began offering poutine fries this spring at the Original Joe's stand behind the left-field bleachers. Inside Scoop tried them and didn't much care for them, but if you're stuck with limited ballpark options or have had a few too many beers, they might be a viable option.

Chris Beerman makes his own cheese curds for his take on poutine, with wild-mushroom gravy and crispy pork belly decorating the house-cut Kennebec fries. The final touch? A heap of feathery grated pecorino, same as the infamous mac-and-cheese.

The Korean-inspired gamja fries (available at lunch here or at their Ferry Building stand) are described right on the menu as a "poutine-like stoner favorite." They've got short ribs, teriyaki sauce, kewpie mayo, kimchi relish, and gochujang.

Second only in popularity to the titular burger is Chris Kronner's fries with beef-cheek gravy and cheese curds, which can be topped with bone marrow for an extra charge if you're feeling particularly hedonistic.

They're not always on the menu, but Beast and the Hare's special of poutine fries with lamb-neck gravy is next-level if you love the flavor of lamb.

Bonus addition! Per Diem didn't make the original list because they didn't have an updated menu on their site, but their poutine is available, and it features oxtail gravy, local cheese curds from Achadinha Farms, and housemade fries. "I'm not an egomaniac, but I know when I have a good thing," says chef Adam Hinojosa.
